OCEAN SPRINGS, Mississippi -- For the second straight year, Ocean Springs will play host to mayors and other city officials from around the state as the city hosts a reception for attendees of next week's Mississippi Municipal League Conference in Biloxi.

The conference, set to begin July 15, will be held at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum Convention Center, with the Beau Rivage serving as the host hotel.

Ocean Springs will host a reception for the conference participants on Tuesday, July 16, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ocean Springs Community Center on Washington Avenue. In addition to food and refreshments, guests will be treated to a tour of the newly-expanded Walter Anderson Museum of Art adjacent to the community center.

""We did this last year and it was very, very popular," said Ocean Springs Mayor Connie Moran. "It's a way to showcase Ocean Springs. The mayors and city officials are aware of the awards Ocean Springs has won and are interested in coming to the city to see what makes us unique."

Other MML events held in Ocean Springs during the conference include the Mississippi Municipal Service Company golf tournament at Gulf Hills Resort on Monday, and a 5K walk/run on the Biloxi-Ocean Springs Bridge on Wednesday.

According to the MML website, the MML Annual Conference is the largest private association conference held in the state each year, with over 3,000 attending the four-day conference. The conference agenda includes training and education sessions, affiliate group and mayors' association activities, the annual membership business meeting and election of officers, the MML Hall of Fame inductions and the MML Excellence Awards presentation.

The MML Annual Conference also features one of the largest trade shows in the state. Over 200 companies and organizations with an interest in networking with municipal government participate annually.
